Dr. Wander’s research expertise includes soil organic matter management, carbon sequestration, plant-soil interactions, agroecology and sustainability metrics.
Her current on-going research addresses the function of, and factors influencing, soil organic matter in natural and managed ecosystems. Ongoing research includes studied of the influence of elevated CO2 and O3 on roots and soil organic matter response, characterization of management (organic management, crop rotation, biomass crops, tillage and fertilization) on organic matter fractions, dynamics, leaching and trace gas emissions, Bt toxin persistence in soils, climate and agriculture, and the relationship SOC, co-benefits, and economic policy.
She is an Associate Editor for the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) Journal and now serves on the committee for the Special Publication Soil Carbon Management Guide as well as the Ad Hoc Committee on Global Enhancement of Soil Organic Matter.
