The project will work at the national level in Beijing, at the provincial level in Heilongjiang, and at the prefectural, municipal and county levels, including nature reserves, at four wetland sites focusing on demonstration of good practices in wetland management that addresses critical issues of importance for both wetland biodiversity conservation and to meet local priorities. At site level, the project focuses on improved public knowledge of wetland functions and value in Yancheng Coastal Marshes, use of indicator species monitoring and data sharing in decision making and actions in Dongting Lake, consideration of biodiversity in water management and international transboundary coordination in Sanjiang, and integration of biodiversity into pasture management with interprovincial coordination in Ruoergai Marshes.
On June 2nd , a workshop to wrap-up the project of Wetland Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use in China, funded by GEF through UNDP, and implemented by the State Forestry Administration (SFA) of China, was held at Tianmu Lake, Jiangsu Province, on 3rd June, 2009, marking the successful conclusion of the project.
Lv Xianguo, Zhao kuiyi, Li Ying, Jiang Ming, Tong Lianjun, Zhang Shuqing, Wu Haitao, Wang Qiang, Zhang Chunli from NEIGAE engaged in the sub-project No.1: "through the design of bio-diversity of electronic maps, carry out biodiversity conservation in land-use planning model". They made remarkable achievement in ecological corridor construction and the construction of wetland-friendly agriculture model.
